The Sierra Swiss Friendship Society is an independant organization created by citizens Sierra Leone and Switzerland to contribute to the solution of Africa’s most urgent needs:

Clean water!

Sierra Leone in West Africa, bordering Guinea to the north and east, Liberia to the south-east and the Central Atlantic Ocean to the west. The country’s capital and largest city is Freetown.

The climate is tropical and humid with rainfall of up to 5000 millimetres (equivalent to litres per m²) per year in the coastal regions, making it one of the wettest regions in West Africa. The year is divided into a rainy season, a windy season and a dry season. As Sierra Leone lies north of the equator, the rainy season of the West African monsoon begins in mid-May and is characterised by daily thunderstorms and rainfall. In the months of August and September, it can also rain without interruption.

The dry season begins in mid-October and rainfall becomes less frequent. In December and January, the climate is characterised by the Harmattan, a wind from the Sahara that brings dust and cool air. February, March and April are the hottest months with infrequent rainfall.

The average temperature in the north of the country in Kabala is 25.5 °C, in the south in Bo it is between 20 and 37 °C and on the coast in Freetown between 23 and 32 °C.[11] The coastal climate in Freetown tends to be milder and more pleasant than inland.

The highest elevation is the Bitumani, its highest point is 1948 metres above sea level.
